THE ORGANISATION

The IPU’s Members are committed to delivering a quality, accessible, personal, and professional service that puts the patient first and optimises society’s health and well-being as their primary goal. As the organisation continues to grow and transform, the Executive Committee of the IPU are seeking a dynamic, committed and experienced person to be its next Secretary General. As Secretary General of the IPU, the person appointed will work with the Executive Committee and staff to lead and manage the delivery of its strategic objectives and goals.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Executive Committee led by the President, the Secretary General will provide strategic leadership to the IPU and will ensure that it delivers effectively in all areas of its mandate such as advocacy and negotiations as well as operational, financial, compliance and governance matters. As the public face of the organisation the Secretary General will play a significant part in leading communications, advocacy, reputation enhancement while representing the IPU and its members’ interests in the national arena.
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will possess demonstrable visionary leadership and project management skills and will have significant networking and stakeholder management abilities in addition to excellent communication skills. The individual will possess an established record of achievement working at a senior level in government, business, industry, the public sector or in a senior advocacy role within an equivalent membership organisation interacting with government.
In addition to a relevant third-level qualification, you will have an understanding of the economic, commercial and legislative issues impacting on Community Pharmacy.
