THE ORGANISATION

Engineers Ireland is the professional body for engineers and engineering in Ireland. With over 25,000 members across the island of Ireland and overseas, Engineers Ireland focuses on the promotion and development of all disciplines of engineering, working collaboratively with industry, educational institutions, state bodies and the public service.

As one of the country’s largest and longest established professional bodies, Engineers Ireland liaises closely with the engineering community to act as the voice of the profession and to promote excellence through a programme of on-going accredited professional development and certification.    

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director General, the Membership Director will be responsible for the management and strategic direction of the membership function of Engineers Ireland and for the delivery of continued membership growth and retention. The appointed person will lead the Membership Team  and will drive relationship development with key stakeholders to create a representative and diverse membership base from all engineering disciplines and to ensure that new offerings and services are developed for members.


THE PERSON

This position requires an experienced leader with strong commercial acumen and a successful track record of managing a business development team in a service-based enterprise, or equivalent. The appointed person will demonstrate a thorough understanding of membership-based organisations and how services are developed to address the evolving needs of a progressive membership base. The successful candidate will have the capability to build solid, credible working relationships with individuals and groups at all levels and will demonstrate exemplary planning and communication skills.

A Primary Degree or an equivalent relevant qualification is required. A Masters qualification would be advantageous, as would a background in Engineering, Science or Technology.
