THE ORGANISATION

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) is the voice of the construction sector in Ireland. It represents 1,350 employers and comprises 33 constituent Associations, representing various sectors of the industry. It operates 13 Branches around the country and provides a wide range of advisory and advocacy services through a team of dedicated professionals. The CIF supports the growth and development of large, small and medium sized construction companies through understanding its members’ challenges and opportunities and responding proactively to their needs. Following a restructuring of the organisation, a new role for Director of Corporate Affairs is being created and the CIF now wishes to appoint a highly effective individual to help lead the organisation into its next stage of development.


THE ROLE

Reporting to the Director General (DG) of the CIF, the Director of Corporate Affairs (DCA) will support the DG in the effective, proactive management of the corporate structure of the CIF and its group operations. Based in Dublin, this role requires a high level of leadership, independence and agility. The DCA will provide leadership and direction to the CIF in the areas of finance management, corporate governance, human resource management, information technology, strategy, internal communications and act as Secretary to key membership groups and committees. As a member of the Executive Team, the DCA will also ensure that the CIF achieves its business objectives internally and externally, building the organisation’s impact and reputation and ensuring its future success.


THE PERSON

This is a senior leadership post which requires an outstanding individual with a proven track record of motivation and delivery in similar roles at senior level in a multi-functional professional organisation.

The appointed person will:

• Have a third level qualification in management, corporate governance, strategic leadership and/or change management.

• Demonstrate a capacity to develop and successfully implement clearly defined deliverables.

• Have a proven track record in the hands-on management of Corporate Affairs, enabling & facilitating multidisciplinary teams to deliver service excellence.

• Be an effective leader, colleague enabler & developer of teams through an authentic & open communication style.

• Demonstrate the ability to develop and nurture relationships across a wide range of internal and external stakeholders in a multi-layered organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a pivotal leadership role in an evolving and nationally important organisation and to contribute to the ongoing strategic development of the organisation and members services.
