THE ORGANISATION
The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) is a statutory, independent and science-based body, dedicated to protecting public health and consumer interests in the area of food safety and hygiene. The principal function of the FSAI is to protect consumers and raise compliance through partnership, science and food law enforcement. The FSAI operates under the aegis of the Minister for Health and has a Board of ten in addition to a 15 member Scientific Committee that assists and advises the Board ensuring decisions relating to food safety and hygiene take account of the latest and best scientific advice and information available. To support its growth plans both organisationally and strategically, FSAI is seeking to appoint an accomplished individual to serve as its Director Audit, Incidents & Investigations.
THE ROLE
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director Audit, Incidents & Investigations will lead, develop and manage an effective and efficient multi-disciplinary unit in the FSAI. The Director will focus on ensuring consumer health protection through the delivery of a comprehensive audit, incidents and investigations service. This is a senior management post which requires an individual with an extensive track record of leading and motivating a large multi-functional team. This experience may have been gained in either the public or private sectors.
THE PERSON
The successful candidate will be presented with an excellent opportunity to develop a high performing Audit, Incidents & Investigations unit in a progressive regulatory agency and to adapt the service model to support the delivery of the organisation’s business objectives. A strategic thinker you will have a proven track record in change management coupled with excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
You will possess appropriate academic and/or professional qualifications related to the principal job accountabilities. In addition, you will possess detailed knowledge and understanding of the food safety regulatory environment, relevant legislation and issues, along with the services provided by the FSAI.
