THE ORGANISATION:

Macra na Feirme is a vibrant, progressive, national voluntary organisation that provides youth development activities and training for rural young people and young farmers. Macra na Feirme represents over 11,000 young members aged between 17 and 35 and its activities are oriented towards advocating for, nurturing and developing its membership base and sustaining rural communities across Ireland. The organisation operates through 170 clubs across 26 counties. In terms of membership, 45% are female and 67% work in occupations in rural Ireland other than farming.

THE ROLE:

To ensure its continued success, and to forge a new dynamic in the organisation’s journey, Macra na Feirme is seeking to appoint a Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide strategic and operational leadership to the organisation and will work closely with all stakeholders and partners to develop and grow the organisation, significantly updating and modernising its offering, in accordance with the Strategic Plan. The CEO will ensure that all elements of Macra na Feirme’s performance are optimised, enabling the delivery of continually improving services to members.

THE PERSON:

This position requires a focused, strategic leader who will ensure that the organisation is best positioned to address the needs of its members, in accordance with Macra na Feirme’s mission and values. With a thorough appreciation and understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing the young people of rural Ireland, the appointed person will have a demonstrable track record of relevant leadership experience, in addition to exemplary interpersonal and communication skills. A professional qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience is required, with an additional leadership or management qualification preferred.
