It is also the national competent authority for chemicals under REACH and provides the national accreditation service.

Employing over 170 multidisciplinary professional and administrative staff , the HSA has the challenging role of monitoring and enforcing new and existing safety legislation; promoting education, training and research into safety and health matters; offering expert advice to employers and employees and bringing proposals to Government for implementing best safety and health practices. It is Ireland’s representative for Occupational Safety & Health, Chemicals and Accreditation at European level.
