THE ORGANISATION

The National Treatment Purchase Fund (NTPF) is a statutory body under the aegis of the Department of Health whose primary function is to reduce waiting times for patient treatments in Ireland’s Public Health Service. The NTPF fulfils a number of important roles within the Public Health Service including arranging treatments for patients, providing independently assured waiting list information, developing systems and processes which contribute to health system reform, negotiating prices for nursing home care, and providing expert advice to the Minister for Health. With an annual budget in excess of €100M, the NTPF works closely with the Department of Health, the HSE, acute public hospitals and private nursing homes across the health system.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will bring vision, strategic leadership and effective management across all functions of the NTPF to ensure that it achieves its overall aims and purpose, as set out in the organisation's legislative functions, with maximum impact on the healthcare sector overall.  The CEO will develop productive relationships at all levels and will engage strategically with senior decision-makers to help shape current and future healthcare services to maximise the treatments available within the healthcare system, as determined by the Minister for Health.

THE PERSON

This position requires an inspirational leader with an outstanding track record of achievement within a relevant organisation. The appointed person will have the capacity and commitment to build on the NTPF’s achievements to date and will oversee the continued development and implementation of the organisation’s Strategy through a dynamic working relationship with the Board, the NTPF Team, and all other relevant stakeholders. The successful candidate will possess a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges within the healthcare sector. Exceptional stakeholder management and analytical abilities are essential, in addition to exemplary interpersonal and communication skills.
